The Renewal Early-Warning System
Use health signals to turn renewal from reactive firefighting into proactive intervention.
Renewal is often noticed only when a customer is already preparing to leave. FDE turns it into daily observation: a health check rather than emergency medicine.
After reading, you should be able to answer:
- How to see whether a customer will renew before the signal turns red
- Which metrics are true leading indicators of renewal and which are noise
- What to do once an alert fires to pull an at-risk account back
Build a health score
Track active-user share, use of key workflows, value achieved, and spread across the organization. A good total score can hide a sudden drop in one component. Make the score visible every day and let an anomaly trigger a conversation.
Intervene early
The value of an alert is lead time. If usage drops in one department, send someone in while the cause is still fixable. One early intervention can be cheaper than trying to rescue the account during renewal season.
Avoid single-person dependency
If one person or one team is the only user, their departure can put renewal at risk. Organizational health means the capability has entered multiple roles and workflows. The customer should rely on the result, not on a particular FDE.
